Bernese Mountain Dog

Having a Bernese Mountain Dog is a unique experience: he is a patient friend, always affectionate, helpful, cheerful and curious. He is never too far away from us, while good vigilance and a dose of courage allow him to always be attentive to what is happening to us, without ever becoming dangerous or aggressive.

Rustic, sincere and generous, he doesn’t know his limits or half measures. In any case, he is very easy to live with: his great intelligence allows him to quickly learn the essential commands for a correct behavior in public and at home.

The Garden of Ca’Novae

The nature is also on the table. Just a few meters from the house you’ll find a vegetable garden with the typical vegetables of our Tuscan countryside (tomatoes, lettuce, courgettes, onions, peppers, cucumbers, cabbage), with the sweetest fruits (strawberries, melons, watermelons) and with aromatic and medicinal plants.

Ca’Novae offers guests who wish to do so, the opportunity to fully and actively immerse themselves in the life of the farm, personally picking their own vegetables and fruits.

Participating in such agricultural work is really a simple and ancient way to get in touch with nature and experience active rural life, having fun and socializing.

APIARY AND BEEKEEPING

Honey, propolis, pollen

Bees play a fundamental role in the balance of an ecosystem, and for this reason they could not miss Ca’Novae.

We run a small apiary with organic farming methods, using only natural treatments with oxalic acid and extracting honey by centrifugation, without any heating.
The dedication, care and passion that we devote to them is returned in the form of a wonderful and healthy honey.

Aromatic and medicinal herbs

At Ca’Novæ there is an absolute ban on the use of the word “weeds”. In the past, the collection of wild herbs was a very important resource for the table.

Each herb has often unexpected properties that are indispensable for a balanced ecosystem, and the coexistence of so many different species helps to control insects that would otherwise become harmful.

At Ca’Novae we are happy to cultivate many aromatic herbs that also give shelter and nourishment to countless caterpillars that will grow into beautiful and graceful butterflies.
